Wednesday, July 12, 2006 — In The SUMMERTIME Hey Everybody...Welcome to summer, what with the heat and the torrential downpours, the Bar-B-Que and the lawnmowing...and the swimming and music... First up I'd like to hip everybody to a new online thing called Berks.TV...I was contacted by the editor and founder Dan Karleen about doing a short interview for video, so we met before one of my performances at The Stonersville Hotel with Julie.. the result was a bunch of interview footage and a recording of the performance to be edited down into segments, some of which are now online for your perusal...there are currently two segments up that either include myself or Julie Edlow...just scroll down... ...at the bottom of this blog I've included the Berks.TV mission statement...I encourage you to check this out on a regular basis, especially if you live in the area of Berk County, PA.... thanks, Tara And Dan! In other news... I'm spending alot of time in July up in State College rehearsing with my old and now current band STONE POETS...all five of us (Dr. Mudgett, Rev. James, JK and Jack) got together earlier this week to start rehearsing for the show we have planned on August 19th, and for future shows because we will be playing more and more over the course of the year...in the meantime we've worked up a good set of some of the things we were doing before I abruptly left in 2002 as well as a crop of new songs...no loftly plans except to sound better than we ever have, and to my ears it sounds like we are on the right path- the guys sound great... more on that as it develops...in the meantime, more info about our appearance at Homegrownradionj.com's Wine & Music Festival can be gotten HERE...the show won't be broadcast live, so you'll have to shell out the whole $15 and make the trip for more than a couple bands playing all day long...more than worth 15 mere dollars (the price of one new CD)... Also coming up is the Bears' Picnic in Milton, PA on Saturday, July 22nd...Julie and I will be playing the late night jam and also a 'tweener' set earlier....ticket info can be gotten HERE... Friday, August 25th I'll be doing a solo set at Hexfest in Barto, PA, from 5 to 6...e-mail me if you need tix, or go HERE... Sunday, August 27th Julie and I will be performing with bassist Craig Burkey and percussionist Matt Cullen at Blue Mountain Summit from 5 to 8, outdoors...a really nice place along the Appalachian Trail on 309 north of Allentown... There are also solo and duo appearances throughout the summer, so just check DATES here on this website Don't forget to check out my weekly radio show, Black Mountain Underground on Homegrownradionj.com every monday at noon... If you have an interest in bluegrass music, check out our friend Brad's Bluegrass Page HERE.. and don't dive in head first before you know the waters... Archives
