Thanks to everybody who came out on my little Thanksgiving run though Pennsylvania with a brief but awesome stop in New York City at The Knitting Factory for The Johnny Cash Tribute put on by NYDECAY. Big thanks to Doogie from The Comiskey Players for all the help, including sitting in on a few songs and taking the lead vocals on "Sea Of Heartache", not to mention covering "Breakin' Out" in his own band. I met some great folks and the event raised a ton of dough for the Diabetes Foundation. The Balmats' house party proved warm and fuzzy as always, and I got to pick with one of my compatriots from the REDD I. RAMBLERS, fiddler LA Williams. It was so much fun that I'll be returning for a split-bill with Joey Mutis III (both of us will do solo sets) on January 9th. (e-mail requests) The following night we rambled into The County Seat in Montrose, Pa. for a whole lot of fun with Ray and Shirley (all agree -- they are the BEST!) and the rest of the gang. Durf made the hike and a nice recording of the night which and you can download it for free in its entirety at etree.org (etree also has a few Recipe shows that I play on and a whole bunch of other cool live shows with tons of other bands to download). THANKS DURF!! Got to stop by and hang with my old buddy Phil Stahl at WXLV-FM... we used to do that every Wednesday back in the day. Stop by one of his open mics in the Lehigh Valley if you get the chance, or tune into his 3 hour show still broadcast every Wednesday on 90.3 WXLV-FM. Also had a GREAT time at Tommy D's in Dubois with "French Girl" Jen Bertiaux doing a solo set and sitting in with her during hers. We'll be doing that again Saturday, December 20th. We made 2 stops at a new venue for me, The Lancaster Brewing Company in Lancaster, Pa. Run by our old buddy Ron from The Allen Street Grill days back in State College, this place is WAY cool and comfortable -- the best food and brew, too -- just ask Kevin! Bill and I will be returning there Friday, December 19th. It all ended up with a debaucherous Zeno's Christmas party where I got to pick with Dr. Dave and Rev. James for the first time in a little while -- great fun and a burned-out ride back to North Carolina the next day. I'm proud to say the new Recipe album "All You Can Eat" was the #2 seller on The Homegrown Music Network in Novemeber and it was only available for part of the month! Don't forget to get your copy from the band New Years' Eve at The Recher Theater in Towsend, MD. and see what else is doing at porchparty.com and therecipe.com, and have a wonderful holiday season!
